While I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out to me the past couple of days encouraging me to throw my hat in the ring to succeed Senator Kathy Marchione in the State Senate, I want to publicly state that I am 100% committed to serving as Columbia County Clerk and have no intentions of running for State Senate. Simply put, I love being your Columbia County Clerk too much to leave and I look forward to continuing to serve in a fifth term!
Senator Marchione has done a magnificent job representing Columbia County and the entire 43rd Senate District. Her energy, work ethic, and determination is inspiring to us all. She leaves big shoes to fill, and I’m absolutely positive we will field a candidate worthy of that opportunity. These are challenging, yet exciting times that we live in. We should all do our part, by engaging in the process and working to ensure our values and priorities are duly represented at all levels of government. I’m extremely proud of the progress we’ve made and the achievements realized – working together – as your County Clerk the past 16 years. I look forward to continuing to serve you, and I hope I can count on your support on Election Day!

![]() It is with great pleasure that I announce my candidacy for re-election as your Columbia County Clerk! Serving as your County Clerk the past sixteen years has been an honor and I’m pleased to run again for another term. The position of County Clerk requires great leadership, organization, and management skills. Since taking office I’ve implemented several programs that benefit the residents of Columbia County. Two of those very popular programs are:
As your County Clerk, I’ve pushed for reforms and laws that benefit all county residents. I was honored to have been elected President of the New York State Association of County Clerks. During my term we helped to pass historic legislation enabling the electronic recording of land records, helping to create efficiencies in this important function for county clerks; expanded e-filing of court documents and successfully negotiated with State DMV to have a portion of revenue collected from internet transactions returned to the counties – providing much needed support to local budgets. In 2011, I was named “Clerk of the Year” by the State Association of County Clerks. Over the past four years, I’ve served as co-chair of the Association’s DMV committee, working directly with state DMV leadership to help improve processes and create efficiencies. My sixteen years of service as Columbia County Clerk has given me real, hands on experience. During my tenure, I’ve seen changes to driver licenses, Real ID, enhanced licenses, CDL’s and other processes that NYS residents have to deal with every day. I am not only well versed in DMV issues, but I am also a registered user and can work the line along with my staff. As Columbia County Clerk, I obtained over $100,000 in grants to begin the county’s first ever Inactive Records Center, a state-of-the-art storage facility. The IRC is a climate controlled facility that manages over 10,000 cubic feet of county records for ALL county departments in a safe, secure environment. I plan on expanding this service to allow our towns and villages to use the facility, so that they have a safe place to properly store paper documents as well, in addition to providing scanning services to make more records digital, for both county departments and local municipalties. I’ve also worked hard to improve the public’s accessibility to documents and materials of interest. In 2016, I began e-recording of land record documents; a very successful project. We now have public land records available 24/7 online for ease of searching by the public. We’ll soon have a forty-year search available! I’ve also worked to have a number of historical documents and books restored and preserved. We have a plan and budget to continue working on more as we move forward. Serving as Columbia County Clerk the past sixteen years has been an amazing experience. I’ve worked hard to improve service while working within tight budgets. It has been my pleasure and I am looking forward to many more years serving the public. Please be sure to follow our campaign online at www.HollyTannerCountyClerk.com.
