Firearm safety was the program topic for the Hendrick Hudson Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, recently at the historic Robert Jenkins House in Hudson. The speaker for the day was Columbia County Clerk Holly Tanner. One of the main functions of her office is the issuance and maintenance of pistol permits. Tanner has served as county clerk since December 2002. As clerk, she oversees the county's land records and is the county Commissioner of Motor Vehicles and Records Management Officer. She is also the clerk of the Supreme and County courts. Tanner was nominated by her fellow clerks statewide to serve as president of the State Association of County Clerks in 2010. She is also a member of the Hudson Lions Club and the county's Honor a Veteran Committee. She lives in Ghent with her husband Ron and two children. Mrs. Tanner, center, was presented a copy of the book “Sketches of Hudson 1862” by Stephen B. Miller, which the chapter reprinted as part of the City of Hudson's bicentennial celebration in 1985, by Treasurer Donna Brown, left, and Regent Margie Laurie.
